What is CBDV?

CBDV is obviously a phytocannabinoid of cannabis having unique and inimitable characteristics, discovered in 1969. Obviously, like all the other cannabinoids of marijuana, it possesses various therapeutic properties, as well as a formidable sense of relaxation. CBDV cannabis genetics are among the most cultivated in the world in the light cannabis sector, i.e. with very low percentages of THC (below the legal limit) or even null! Keep reading this informative article to find out all about Cannabidivarin.

What is CBDV all about?

Il CBDV (Cannabidivarin), is one of over 113 cannabinoids present in the components of cannabis plants. This molecule has a chemical structure very similar to CBD and has similar effects on the body. Discovered in 1969, like the vast majority of cannabinoids other than THC, has remained in the shadows and only recently has the scientific community begun to take an interest in its use in medicine. As a counterpart to CBD, CBDV does not cause the psychoactive or “high” usually associated with cannabis.
The composition of cannabis strains currently available on the market contains less CBDV than major cannabinoids including CBD and THC. However, CBD-rich strains have higher concentrations of cannabidiol. There are signs that more CBDV was initially found in some North Indian landraces

What are the Therapeutic Properties of Cannabidivarin?

Recent research has shown that the CBDV is a cannabinoid with powerful therapeutic potential. The substance is effective in the treatment of epilepsy, autism and neuropathic pain, based on almost all findings in animals, conclusions that have put cannabinoids at the center of research by companies such as GW Pharmaceuticals.
In a mouse study, Cannabidivarin was found to be an effective anticonvulsant for the treatment of widespread seizures. The results also concluded that this fantastic phytocannabinoid does not impair motor function and is therefore an excellent potential candidate for the treatment of the disease. Once the efficacy of CBDV in reducing seizures was demonstrated in this and other studies, a group of researchers became interested in explaining the phenomenon at the molecular level. Through their experiments, they concluded that cannabinoids have anticonvulsant effects.

Marijuana is a common drug for nausea and is often given to chemotherapy patients to reduce side effects. Similarly, in a mouse study, THCV and CBDV have been shown to be effective antiemetics.
After a mouse study found that CBDV helped reverse the deterioration and shrinkage of brain regions associated with Rett syndrome, GW Pharma has once again set out to prove the efficacy of cannabinoids in treating the disease. Rett syndrome is a neurological disorder that affects almost exclusively women and girls. The disorder is caused by mutations in the X chromosome and is characterized by a worsening of cognitive, sensory, emotional, motor and autonomic functions (hand movements, brain retardation, seizures and intellectual disability).

What are the Cannabis Strains with the highest amounts of CBDV?

Many varieties of cannabis seeds have on average high quantities of Cannabidivarin; rather, in our CBD cannabis seeds catalog there are numerous CBDV marijuana genetics. For example we find the White Widow Auto CBDV and Black Widow Auto CBDV, or two autoflowering strains that possess extremely high percentages of Cannabidivarin!

Does Cannabidivarin Have Side Effects?

There are currently no known side effects of CBDV. However, there is very limited proprietary research on the positive and side effects of CBDV, so it's better to assume that we don't know if there are any side effects than to assume that they don't. It is closely related to CBD. In fact, Cannabidivarin is a precursor to CBD, so its effects and side effects appear to be similar.
Long-term administration of cannabidiol is effective in improving memory deficits and delaying the onset of neurological deficits in experimental animals. Furthermore, the treatment normalized all the altered biochemical parameters in the transgenic animals, such as the aberrant expression of the CB1 and CB2 receptors. These findings on the use of cannabinoids to improve neurological deficits are extremely promising.
