Standard cannabis seeds come from a male and a female parent and can produce both male and female plants.
In this article we analyze the differences between cannabis seeds.
Regular Cannabis Seeds
With Regular Seeds it is virtually impossible to determine whether a regular cannabis seed will become a male or a feminized seed. Of course, after reaching the flowering stage, it is much easier to identify and separate male and female plants. The males will produce oval pods while the females will produce a teardrop shaped goblet. in regular seeds the growth ratio between male and female with regular seeds is about 1 to 1 (about 66% of women). When you start germination, it is in your interest to assume that 50% of the seeds will eventually become female cannabis plants. When growing regular seeds you should always germinate a few extra seeds to compensate for all the males you will discard later during the early flowering period. A number of different variables determine whether regular seeds are better suited to some growers than feminized seeds. The conditions of growth, the amount of time and space available, the preferred choice and the general level of skills come into play. If you want to breed cannabis and produce new seeds, then you need both male and female plants, which would require regular seeds. If you have no interest in breeding and you just want to have some great gem, then feminized seeds may be a better choice.
Feminized cannabis seeds
Unlike regular seeds, feminized seeds are bred specifically to eliminate male chromosomes, effectively ensuring that each crop is feminine. If you are looking for a quick and easy cultivation, then the feminized seeds are perfect. Feminized seeds effectively eliminate the need to identify genera because plants will always be feminine. Feminized seeds also make sense in other logistical ways. With regular seeds, growers tend to germinate extra seeds (up to double the expected amount) to account for unnecessary males. If you use feminized seeds, you just have to germinate all the plants you need.
Attention to the Hermaphrodites
Another aspect at stake is that cannabis is not strictly male or female. Any marijuana plant can produce flowers of both sexes depending on certain conditions. Certain environmental factors can cause a plant to grow flowers of both sexes simultaneously. In general, this is a stress response that triggers a survival mechanism in the plant. Temperature drops, physical damage, problems with the light cycle and other stress factors can cause the plant to produce intersexual characteristics. The plant’s response to these conditions is to recognize that the chances of survival and ultimately reproduction are low. The implant has an integrated survival response to ensure it can reproduce successfully. In these circumstances, a female plant will produce staminated male flowers so that they can pollinate their own female pistil flowers. This allows them to produce seeds without the need for a male. In some cases, male plants will produce pistils, but this is rare.
Feminized Cannabis Seeds Production
Unlike regular seeds, feminized cannabis seeds were produced using two female marijuana plants. One of the plants in question would have had hermaphrodite tendencies (or, the propensity to create male flowers during stress). To emphasize the plant, growers interrupt the light cycle or prune branches or leaves. The pollen produced by the hermaphroditic plant would then be used to pollinate the “pure” female. Unfortunately, hermaphrodite plants used to pollinate females could pass that hermaphroditic trait to the resulting seeds. This essentially meant that feminized seeds showed a stronger tendency to be hermaphrodite rather than purely female. Over time, however, the process of creating feminized seeds has improved and proved more complex. With the help of different types of silver (find out how to produce feminized marijuana seeds using colloidal silver), it has become possible to force even the purest females to create male cannabis flowers. Thus, the seeds created by these plants have no inclination towards intersexuality. All the feminized seeds of Grace Grass are created with this method. Simply put, intersexuality or hermaphroditism is a natural part of the marijuana plant genome. Depending on the genetics of each plant, they have greater or lesser chances of becoming hermaphrodites due to certain conditions. These seeds are also NOT genetically modified, which means that the genes are neither added to nor removed from the plant. The mother plants themselves could be considered “physically modified” by silver, but the seeds themselves are naturally produced through pollination.
Autoflowering cannabis seeds
Marijuana strains that are generally small autoflowering and ideal for outdoor growth. The hours of light diminish and a change of season is not necessary to make the autoflowering seeds of cannabis bloom. Most standard marijuana plants begin to bloom at the end of summer, with the beginning of days shortening and the amount of light decreasing. Plants recognize that they must begin to mature before the onset of winter. The autoflower seed plants are different. They will enter the flowering phase even if they receive 24 hours of light. For autoflower seed plants, it usually takes 10 weeks from start to finish. It is also possible to find feminized autoflower seeds that provide the double benefits of a quick harvest and it is not necessary to identify the sexes of the plants. These seeds can produce about 2 harvests over a normal summer period.
unlike regular seeds with autoflowering seeds, you can expect between 50 and 500 grams per m2. This depends on how the plant is maintained and cared for. The autoflowering plants remain quite small, so you can plant some for every square meter. If you want to enjoy some grass outdoors in about 10 weeks, using these cannabis seeds will surely help you. That said, the yield and quality are not up to the seeds that flower regularly. With feminized autoflowering seeds, you should provide the plant with a growth formula for the first 2 or 3 weeks. After that, you can switch to the flowering formula.
Features of the automatic flowering of cannabis seeds
• Generally 30 to 60 centimeters high • Suitable for outdoor growth • It starts to flower automatically after about 3 weeks • From seed to harvest it takes from 9 to 10 weeks
